Obituary of Jane Mulcahy

JANE M. R. MULCAHY, 44, passed away at her home, "the big blue house," in Summit on Saturday, November 13. She was surrounded by her three sons, husband, Mom and Dad, brothers and sisters, and other family and friends. She was born April 4, 1966, in Fort Atkinson to Robert G. and Nancy (Hubbard) Rupprecht. While working at St. Coletta of Wisconsin, she met her husband William "Bill" Mulcahy. They were married on July 11, 1992, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Jefferson, WI. Jane graduated from Jefferson High School in 1984, received her Bachelor's Degree from UW-Whitewater in 1991, and earned her Juris Doctor from Marquette University Law School in May of 1999. For the past 11 years, she was the sole practitioner at Mulcahy Law Office, LLC in Oconomowoc and Delafield. Jane served her community as a well-respected lawyer. Jane's light and personality shone through when helping her clients, including people with disabilities, and when helping to educate attorneys on issues involving estate planning and elder law. Jane served as the Chair of the Elder Law Section of the Milwaukee Bar Association for 10 years. Her dedication to continuing lawyer education and her community was so steadfast that she was recognized in the 2008 Milwaukee Bar Association's magazine, The Messenger, for her noteworthy contributions to the community and to the Bar. Jane also served as Past President of the Waukesha County Bar Association Probate and Estate Planning Section. Until the birth of her beloved boys, Jane's community involvement also included serving as Chair of the Association for Women Lawyers Community Involvement Committee. Jane's presence in the legal community will be greatly missed. Jane also served the community as a member the Oconomowoc Junior Women's club, Kiwanis, and past secretary of the Kettle Moraine Education Foundation. She was a part of the Endowment Committee and Parish Council at St. Bruno's in Dousman, where the family has been members for twelve years. Jane's first love was the "Mulcahy Five," a nickname she coined for her family which included her husband and three children, Liam, Luke, and Jack. She enjoyed walking, shelling, reading, shopping, collecting antiques, decorating, and travel especially to Elkhart Lake, WI, and Boca Grande, FL. She also developed and ran a math club at her son Liam's school. She relished the end of the day which she spent saying prayers, reading, and snuggling with her boys. Jane will be remembered for her courageous heart, her passionate drive to excel, her deep commitment to her boys, husband and family, and the inspiration to live, laugh and love against all odds. In addition to her husband Bill and their sons Liam, Luke and Jack, she is also survived by her parents, Robert G. and Nancy Rupprecht of Jefferson; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Thomas and Sarah Mulcahy of Mequon; sisters, Donna (Ray) Madison of Helenville, Treesa of Jefferson, Amy (Matt) Kramer of Jefferson, and Sarah (Phillip) Friend of Fort Atkinson; brothers, Robert D. (Cyndi) Rupprecht of Jefferson and Scott Rupprecht of Watertown; six godchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
