Obituary of Elmer Earl Waldmann

ELMER E. WALDMANN; age 76 of Jefferson, passed away on January 12, 2012 at his home surrounded by family. He was born on December 16, 1935 in Farmington Township, the son of Elmer John and Leonora (Palm) Waldmann. Elmer was united in marriage to Judy Woodward on June 4, 1960 at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Jefferson. He worked for 17 years at Thomas Industries in Fort Atkinson, followed by 2 years at Amron in Waukesha. For the next 30 years, he was employed at Milwaukee Faucet until retirement. Throughout the years, he always found time to help out at his wife's store, Waldmann Shoes, in Jefferson. Elmer was an avid Jefferson historian, researching early records of Jefferson and documenting his findings for all to enjoy. In 1986, he and his wife proudly held the title of the Royal Couple during Gemuetlichkeit Days. He also was a longtime member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church. Elmer will be deeply missed by his wife of 51 years, Judy of Jefferson; his daughter, Wendy (Dan) Rueth of Jefferson; his son, Brad (Judy) Waldmann of St. Germaine, WI; grandchildren: Jacob, Eric, and Hannah Rueth, and Ryan Waldmann of Brooklyn Park, MN; 3 sisters: Lucy Hans of Jefferson, Ruby Betschler of Helenville, and Eunice Doebereiner of Jefferson; sister-in-law, Bunny Wenzel of Jefferson; many nieces, nephews; and special friends, Daryl and Ruthann Broker of Fort Atkinson. He was preceded in death by his brother, Royal, and his parents. Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, 232 E. Church St., Jefferson. Rev. Mark Bartsch will officiate. Visitation will also be on Saturday, January 14 from 1:30 pm until the time of services at the church. Burial will be held privately at Rock River Cemetery. Those wishing to express sympathies through donations in Elmer's name may direct memorials to Rainbow Hospice for their "Tuck In" program, or to St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church.
