I was so sorry to hear of Elmer's passing. He will always be in my heart and my prayers are with his wonderful wife and family. I will never forget his question, "Where's my No. 55?". He always made me smile. Love always, #55

Well, I done laid down me pickaxe and gold dust pan and had to cry me a tear or two for me cousin Elmer! I 'spects he is walking the streets of gold right about now, so he is OK! But we sure will be missing him around here. Got me a lot of good memories of one fine fellow - 'specially that visit during Gemutlichkeit Days a few years back. And the Party Haus! My, but he sure had a way for gettin' the fun into life. I'll be treasurin' the memory of him and count meself durn lucky to have known such a fine fellow. Good ter know we will be meetin' agin in heaven. And, Judy girl, we be thinkin' 'bout cha and prayin' fer ye. Now, if you'll 'scuze me, I thinks I need to find me a hanky or two. I met Elmer through the collection of "Little Golden Books". What a special man. He
was always willing to share information and his time. I loved his sense of humor.
At one Golden Gathering we "fought" over a Poky Puppy bank. He was a loving, caring
person. A true joy to be around. I thank God for letting our lives intesect. He will
always have a very special place in my heart.

Dearest Judy and Family, We were heartbroken to hear of Elmer's passing. He fought so long and hard! We only have wonderful memories of him and our times with you both at cat shows and in your Party House! We will forever remember our visits with you and the "martunies" we shared. Oh how we wish we could be there for you at this time but since we cannot, we can only pray that God's peace and comfort will be with you. Love, Jim and Judy

We have lost a great friend. We are proud of the way you accepted and fought your illness...so strong! You quick wit and humor always got a laugh from your golden book friends. Your knowledge of the storylines and editions will be missed. Prayers and love to all your family.

I recently asked Elmer if he could find a photo of Aumann's Body Shop on Main Street for an ad that was being printed. He worked his magic and came up with two wonderful choices. The next day I stopped at Waldmann's Shoe Store and walked to the back where Elmer was sitting in front of his computer. Nothing strange about that. The first thing he says to me is 'NOW what do you want?!' My response was 'I just came for a hug to thank you for helping me'. I got my hug and that actually was the last time I saw him. He was always willing to help provide a piece of history if he could and I will miss his presence. He was truly a special person.

Elmer, you will be missed by everyone and we will never forget your smiling face and gentle nature. Our Golden Book gatherings at your home have been so special with you and Judy as the hosts. The laughter you generated and kindness will never be forgotten. You were so funny as you described what a little stinker you were growing up and the trouble you had in class being the class clown. We laughed so hard watching you get a kick out of telling us that story. We love you, Elmer. We will see you one day and be waiting to hear more stories. Sending love and hugs to you and to Judy. We miss you and will never forget you. Bill and Jan Ellis

Heaven has gained yet another great King. I sadly say good-bye to you, but someday we will be together again and you and I will have a polka! You will be forever remembered. You have now become an honorary member of the 'weather committee' so I'll be expecting clear skies for Gemuetlichkeit this year. Auf Wiedersehen Mein Konig und Freund.
