Obituary of Donald James Don"

Donald "Buzz" Land, age 50 of Jefferson, passed away on August 4, 2011 at his home surrounded by his wife and daughter. Born on November 20, 1960 in Dover, Delaware, the son of James and Billy Land. Don married Candy Friedle on February 14, 1985 in Biloxi, Mississippi. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1980 until retiring in 2000. He later worked at Dean Health System in Madison for several years. He enjoyed golf and pool, and played on a pool league at Kemmeters. He also loved to play his guitar. Don is survived by his wife, Candy of Jefferson; daughter, Karra (Ben) Killoy of Janesville; son, Timothy Land of Oshkosh; and his first grandchild on the way. He is also survived by his father, James (Doris) Land of Utah; brothers: Mark Land of Kentucky and Kevin Scott Land of Utah; his dear friend, Jeff "Scott" Faulkner of Appleton; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Thiela; his mother, Billy; and brother, Steve. A memorial service for Don will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, August 8, 2011 at Schneider-Michaelis Funeral Home in Jefferson, with Dr. Robert Friedle officiating, followed by full military honors. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
