Obituary of John Alvin Sokolik
JOHN "JACK" A. SOKOLIK age 75 of Jefferson passed away July 7, 2011, peacefully at his home surrounded by his children.
He was born on December 20, 1935, son of the late Palmer and Emily (Shmidt) Sokolik.
He married Barbara English on April 15, 1961, at Winona, Minnesota. She preceded him in death on April 5, 2006.
John had been employed as a Supervisor for City Disposal which is currently Waste Management from the late 1950's to 1973. Self employed in the salvage yard business with the late Don Endl and Roy Mead, was the owner of the former Swap Shop for three years.
He is survived by his children.
Three daughters, Christine Santos, Emily (Martin) Cano both of Jefferson,
Kathleen (Tim Daly) Johnson of Cambridge. Four sons; Daniel Sokolik of Stoughton,
Dennis (Robert Amezcua) Sokolik of Madison, Bryan (Lisa) Sokolik of Manawa, and William (Kelly) Sokolik of Kansas City MO. 17 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren, with 2 more great-grandchildren on the way. One sister; Mary (Al) Coleman of Stoughton, four brothers; Jim (Dixie) Sokolik of Winona, MN, Ronald (Pat) Sokolik of Horton AL, Jerry (Geraldine) Sokolik of Stoughton and Palmer (Frances ) Sokolik of Fond du Lac.
John is preceded in death by his wife, his parents, one sister Eileen Correy, and granddaughter Stacey Watson.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday July 11, 2011 at the Schneider-Michaelis Funeral home in Jefferson, with the Rev. Thomas Coyle officiating, burial will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until noon at the funeral home.
