Obituary of Earl Albert Thom

EARL A. THOM age 83 of Johnson Creek passed away Tuesday March 29, 2011 at Alden Estates of Countryside. He was born on September 30, 1927 in the town of Sullivan, son of the late Marvin & Adeline (Banack) Thom. He married Doris Gaugert on January 7, 1950 at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Farmington. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Helenville. Earl was a Dairy Farmer and Milk Hauler all of his life. He also worked for Landmark Genetics and at the Equity Sale Barn. Earl was a member of the American Milk Producers Inc. for 35 years, and the Tri-State Breeders Association for 25 years. Earl was an avid bowler, and enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his family; he especially enjoyed his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his wife Doris, his four sons; Dennis (Kathy) Thom of Pardeeville, Dale (friend Amy Teeter) Thom of Jefferson, Darrel Thom of Lake Mills, Dean (Gina) Thom of Helenville, 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren. Brother; Donald (Marvel) Thom of Jefferson Half-sister; Betty Fehly of Fort Atkinson, Three half-brothers; Harold (Diane) Thom of Fort Atkinson, Gary (Trudi) Thom of Fort Atkinson Kenneth (Terri) Thom of CA Two sister-in-laws; Barbara Gaugert of Johnson Creek, Lois (John) Burggraf of Janesville, brother-in-law Harold (Odessa) Gaugert of Johnson Creek. Many nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, and half-sister Beverly. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday April 2, 2011 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Helenville with the Rev. Lance Hoff officiating, burial will follow in the Parish cemetery. Visitation for Earl will be held on Friday evening from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Schneider-Michaelis Funeral Home in Jefferson and then again on Saturday morning at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a memorial to St. Peter's Lutheran Church or to Jefferson Rainbow Hospice.
