Obituary of Bruce William Freeberg

BRUCE W. FREEBERG age 69 of Jefferson passed away on Wednesday December 29, 2010 at Alden Estates of Countryside. He was born on July 29, 1941 in Kenosha, Wisconsin, son of the late Arthur and Edythe (Hartman) Freeberg. Bruce served in the United States Air Force 1962-1966. He married Constance "Connie" Eisele on June 26, 1977, in Jefferson. Bruce graduated from the University of Wisconsin Madison in 1967, and then received his Legal Education and J. D. from the Washington & Lee University in Lexington, Virginia in 1970, and admitted to the Wisconsin State Bar in 1970 He worked with the McKenna Law firm in Jefferson 1970-1971, and then the Freeberg and Sperry Law Firm 1971-1973. He began his own Law Firm in 1973 and continued to practice until 2010. He was also very active in the Jefferson and surrounding communities, serving as the City of Jefferson Attorney from 1976-1985; Court Commissioner for Jefferson County 1977-2009; serving as a multi-jurisdictional Judge for the village of Johnson Creek, Town of Aztalan, City of Jefferson from 1995-2009, Assistant Corporation Counsel for Jefferson County 1991-2004; Legal Counsel for the University of Wisconsin Whitewater Student Government 1976-1990, He was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church in Jefferson. Bruce was also active in many community organizations including Jefferson Housing Authority serving as Commissioner until 2009; Jefferson Rotary Club 1978-1999, also serving as president 1978-1979 and was a Paul Harris Fellow in June of 1998; the Jefferson Water & Light commission 1976-1985; Ninth District Congressional Appointments Commission 1975-1978; he served as an Alderman for the City of Jefferson 1973-1975; Civil Service Commission for Jefferson County 1979-1981. He will be deeply missed by his wife Connie of Jefferson; Children; Danielle (Scott) Fossum of Deerfield, Thomas Freeberg of Prescott Valley AZ; His grand children; Sophie & Story Fossum; Brothers; Jack Freeberg of Needham Heights, MA, David (Susan) Freeberg of Knoxville TN; mother-in-law; Betty Eisele of Jefferson; Sister-in-law Patricia (David) Hachtel of Fort Atkinson; Brother-in-law Richard (Pam) Eisele of Spring Grove IL; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends. Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday January 3, 2011 at Immanuel United Methodist Church in Jefferson with the Rev. Nancy Carmichael-Stoner officiating, A gathering time for friends will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
