Obituary of John Adam FURLEY
JOHN "JACK" A. FURLEY age 84 of Jefferson passed away November 20, 2009 at Countryside Nursing home in Jefferson. Jack was born July 7, 1925 in Hayward Wisconsin, son of the late Jay Adam and Grace May (Walsh) Furley.
Jack was a resident of Whitewater since the age of 5, he settled there with his widowed mother and 5 siblings in 1930. he was employed at American Motors in Kenosha, and then at General Motors for 21 y ears, retiring in 1975. He served in the United States Army during World War II in the 61st, Ordinance in ammunitions. Jack was one of the last WWII veterans (as he was one of the youngest to enter) He was drafted during his senior year in high school; he came home on furlough to graduate with his Whitewater High School class of 1944.
Jack has called Countryside Nursing home his home since 1994.
He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and American Legion Reinhardt-Windl Post 164 of Jefferson.
He is survived by one Sister Doris (Phil) Loveless of Lake Whitney TX, sister-in-law; Margaret Furley of Fort Atkinson
Many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, other relative and friends, and a special niece Marcey (Dan) Frankiewicz and their family of Fort Atkinson
He is preceded in death by sisters; Helen Mae Furley, Lois Mulhall, Mary Jane Sprenger,
Brother; Jim Furley Sr.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday November 25, 2009 at Countryside nursing home in Jefferson with the Rev. Thomas Coyle officiating, burial with Military Honors will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Jefferson.
A gathering time will be held 1:00p.m. until the time of services on Wednesday at the nursing home. Schneider-Michaelis Funeral home is assisting the family with arrangements
