Obituary of Bernice A Fischer

BERNICE "BEE" FISCHER, 80 of Jefferson passed away unexpectedly at her home Friday April 14, 2017. She was born on January 25, 1937 at Shell Lake, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Reinhold and Mabel (Soldner) Schrankel. Bee graduated from Shell Lake High School in 1954 and the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1958, with her degree in business. She married John Fischer on June 18, 1960, at Spooner, Wisconsin. She taught business classes at Jefferson High School for many years and was best known as a typing teacher. She also worked as an administrative assistant at Madison Area Technical College for 20 years. She was a bookkeeper for Fischer's Garage and together she and John owned Fischer Fire Equipment, where she was President of the company. Bee was an avid bowler, winning many awards. She served as the secretary and scorekeeper for a men's bowling league. She enjoyed tending to her flower gardens, feeding the birds, and taking in stray cats, and often some of the other small wildlife from her backyard. Bee was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Jefferson and a member of the Ladies Aid. She will be deeply missed by her husband John Fischer of Jefferson, Sons Tim Fischer (Tami Walch) of Janesville, Tom (Joan) Fischer of Spooner, Daughter Tammy (Pat) Armijo of Green Bay and 3 grandchildren Skylar, Colton, and Sydney Armijo. Brothers Ken (Dawn) Schrankel of Holmdel NJ, Herb (Linda) Schrankel of Shell Lake, WI, other relatives, and many friends. She is preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday April 20, 2017 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Jefferson with the Rev. Joshua Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the Christberg Cemetery.
