Obituary of Peter F Monfre

PETER F. MONFRE of Jefferson passed away at his home surrounded by family on Thursday June 9, 2016. Peter was born on June 21, 1951 to Peter and Mary (Miller) Monfre. He married Colleen Calvert on February 14, 1976. Peter was active in Marshall Jaycees, Marshall Community Theater, Jefferson AFS Adult Chapter, where he served as president and area placement officer. The Monfre family served as an AFS host family for students from Columbia, Japan and Hong Kong. Peter was co-owner of CPM, Costumes Parties and More, and a member of Jefferson and Fort Atkinson Chambers of Commerce. Peter also was a video photographer and owner of the Reel Thing Video. He was a lifelong soccer fan; he coached youth soccer and was a referee for adult leagues. A 4th Degree Honor Member in the Knights of Columbus, Peter was often seen serving at his former parishes in Waterloo and Jefferson. His faith helped to sustain him through multiple bypass surgeries for his heart. He actively supported Tomorrow's Hope, the American Heart Association, and American Cancer Society. Peter was employed for over 35 years at GE Healthcare (formerly GE Medical). For 19 years he built and serviced X-ray equipment for clinics and hospitals. He worked both in the factory and later provided field service support. For the last 16 years Peter worked for Datex Ohmeda Instrumentarium which was bought out by GE Healthcare. At Datex he built and serviced anesthesia equipment. Pete was a life-long avid fisherman who had hoped to open and run a small rod, reel and bait shop in his retirement golden years. He will be deeply missed by his wife Colleen Monfre of Jefferson, Daughters Monica (Sean Scantlebury) Brooklyn, NY, Madonna (Matthew Anderson), Ladysmith, WI, Grandsons: Riley, Brody and Ezra Anderson, Ladysmith, WI Siblings: Patricia (Phil) Smigielski, Arlington, TX, John (Jill) Monfre, Verona, WI Joseph (Debra) Monfre, Sun Prairie, WI, Matthew (Deb) Monfre, Colorado Springs, CO Martin (Amy) Monfre, Clearwater, FL, Steven (Dorothy) Monfre, Lawerenceville, NJ David (Nancy) Monfre, Mequon, WI He is also survived by his aunts and uncles: Frank (Jean) Monfre, Brown Deer, WI Helen (Wilbur) Schefstad, Altamonte Springs, FL Further survived by brothers-in-laws; Douglas (Christine) Calvert, Wales, WI Jeffrey (Nan) Calvert, Kansasville, WI Also survived by AFS (foreign exchange student) "Adopted Son" Harris (Ophelia) Tsim, San Francisco / Hong Kong. And many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends Peter's greatest joy in life was his family especially his two daughters and his three grandsons. A Gathering to Celebrate Peter's Life will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday June 17th at the Schneider-Michaelis Funeral Home in Jefferson. Also, again on Saturday June 18, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. with a Mass to be held at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home officiated by Rev. J. Moreno Carranza and Rev. Steven Josephson. Sharing memories and mingling will follow the Mass. Memorials may be given in Pete's memory to Rainbow Hospice or to a Fund established at the Fort Community Credit Union for Pete's grandchildren.
