Obituary of Lynn Eugene Wilke

LYNN E. WILKE, 80 of Jefferson passed away Tuesday March 15, 2016 at Alden Estates of Jefferson. He was born on August 8, 1935 to Louis and Lucille (Schimelpfenig) Wilke in Milford, Wisconsin. He attended Milford school, and Lake Mills High School graduating in 1953. Lynn worked at the Milford Cheese factory and the Lake Mills shoe factory. He joined the National Guard and served 1 year and 30 days before enlisting in the United States Navy, serving from 1955-1959. He married Carol Eilenfeldt on November 7, 1959; she preceded him in death on April 20, 2014. Lynn had been employed at Jamesway and Perwitz Motors in Lake Mills. He and Carol moved to Jefferson in 1965. He then worked at Jones Dairy and he ended his working career at the Jefferson Highway department retiring in 1997. He also was a bartender for 20 years at the Wayside Inn in Jefferson. Lynn was a member of the Local 655 where he served as President, Vice President, and Secretary. He was on the Board of the AFL-CIO Council 40 in Madison. Lynn was also credited with saving a fellow worker from being seriously hurt after being trapped under a tractor. He enjoyed jokes and liked to see people smile. After retirement he enjoyed word search puzzles, and jigsaw puzzles and visiting with friends. He is survived by his sons Patrick Wilke of Wisconsin Dells, Perry "Fritz"(Andrea) Wilke of Lebanon TN, daughters Peggy (Rick) Elam of Lexington KY, Pamela (Gary) Monogue of Portage MI. 6 grandchildren; Candice (Brad) Dean, Holly (Greg) Heighton, Nicole Flatt, William Monogue, Jimmy Flatt, Shane Flatt. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, brothers Louis Jr. "Bud" Wilke, Lee Wilke, and daughter Candace. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday March 19, at the Schneider-Michaelis Funeral Home in Jefferson with the Rev. David Zandt officiating, burial will follow in the Rock Lake Cemetery in Lake Mills. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday March 18, 2016 and then again on Saturday morning at the funeral home from 10:00a.m. until the time of services.
