Obituary of David Bruce Vandre
DAVID B. VANDRE, age 64, of Hancock formerly of Milford passed away Friday January 22, 2016 at the Veteran's Hospital in Madison. He was born on March 5, 1951 in Fort Atkinson to Ralph and Claire (Anderson) Vandre. He graduated from Fort Atkinson High school, class of 1969. He served in the Army Corps of Engineers from June of 1969 to February of 1970, he then served in the United States Army from February of 1970 to February of 1973 in Vietnam, in Camraha Bay, 25th Division mechanized, 1st Air Cav infantry, Division E-Company-Sniper, Long Bend-Military Police, and the Camrah Bay-Military Police, and at Fort Hood, Texas.
David was a cook at the Maximillian House in Jefferson, an Executive Chef at the Concourse in Madison, and a chef at the Edgewater Supper Club in Jefferson
He also owned and operated Vandre's Riverside Inn, in Milford Wisconsin from 1978-2004.
David's passion in life was cooking, hunting, fishing and remodeling. He was an avid hunter of bear, elk, deer, fox, coyote, and small game. He loved cats and we have had many. He loved gardening, and has beautiful flowers, and fruit trees. He loved nature and being outdoors.
He will be deeply missed by his family: wife Gwen Vandre of Hancock,
Daughter Diane (Jeff) Vesper-Shaw of Jefferson.
Grandchildren Skyler, Conner, Alex, Caytie, Tanner Shaw.
Brother Randy "Toby"Vandre and his life partner Hoa Vo of Jefferson.
Sister-in-law Fran Vandre of Jefferson.
Nieces Mandi (Neil) Colb, Misty (Matthew) Croson. Nephews Matthew (Carolyn) Vandre and Nicholas (Daena) Vandre, and many great nieces and nephews, and best friends Mike Foelker of Jefferson, and Mark Pirkel of Milford.
He is preceded in death by his Father Ralph Vandre, his Mother and Stepfather Claire and Bill Hedding, his grandmothers Edith Vandre, Mildred Anderson, and his Brother Michael Vandre.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday February 2, 2016 at the Schneider-Michaelis Funeral Home in Jefferson with the Rev. David Zandt officiating.
Private family burial will take place at a later date.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m on Tuesday at the funeral home.
