Obituary of Marion Marina Vogel

Marion Marina Vogel (Schroedl) passed away at the home of family members on January 8, 2016 at the age of 94. Born in Jefferson, WI on December 11, 1921, she was the fifth child of Enos and Ottilia (Werner) Schroedl. She married Joseph A. Vogel on October 25, 1947 and for fifty years they remained life partners until Joseph's death in 1997. Together they had 3 sons, Ronald J. Vogel (Diane Kraus), Randall A. Vogel (Kay Niedermeier), Russell L. Vogel (Rita Ernst), one daughter, MaryJo Vogel Cass (Glenn Cass), plus 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Her parents, Enos and Ottilia Schroedl, and her brothers Alfred, Clarence, Reuben, Roger, and Robert preceded her in death. Her surviving siblings are Herbert, Dorothy (Vogel), Paul, Alice (Susie Hoffman) and Edward. Many people in Jefferson knew her from Schroedl's Country Meat Market where she worked for more than 60 years; she was an expert meat cutter and a friendly face behind the counter. Marion was famous for her pies and cookies. She whipped them together in the blink of an eye and welcomed visiting family members to her home with their favorite pie or cookies on the table. At one point, she was known in her neighborhood as "The Cookie Lady". Marion was also a great sports enthusiast. She loved to watch the Green Bay Packers and all the Wisconsin teams. Her family misses her deeply and will always hold her memory dear to their hearts. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church at 12:00 noon on Thursday January 14, 2016 with the Rev. Thomas Coyle officiating, with burial to follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will also be on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass. Memorials in Marion's name may be given to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church or School.
