Obituary of Anna Kathryn Schmidt

ANNA K. SCHMIDT, age 94 of Jefferson passed away June 16, 2014 surrounded by her family at Sunset Ridge in Johnson Creek. She was born on July 16, 1920 in Cedar Grove, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Nicholas and Kathryn (Feider) Plier. She married Lester Schmidt on November 25, 1939, he preceded her in death on May 28, 2007 and they had been married 67 years. Lester and Anna moved to Jefferson in 1945. Years ago Anna worked behind the scenes on Friday nights at the Bon Ton. She worked at St. Coletta School for over 30 years where she first began working with residents, cleaning the chapel and gymnasium and then later as a group parent working with the boys. She retired in 1985. She was a dedicated volunteer at St. Vincent de Paul. She did bereavement calls for Rainbow Hospice, and filing in the nursing department at St. Coletta. Anna was a member at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Communities; she also worked in the kitchen for funerals at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, and sponsored a Family team for Tomorrow's Hope. In 1997 she was recognized for her volunteer activities receiving the Jefferson Citizen of the year award. She also was recognized by Hospice with the volunteer of the year award. She is survived by her family; two sons; Dick (Mary Fran) Schmidt of Jefferson, Charlie (Karen) Schmidt of Jefferson, 3 Daughters; Kathryn Vogel of Jefferson, Carolyn (George) Niebler of Jefferson, Margie (Gary) Buelow of Fond du Lac. 18 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 11 great great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Lester, son in law Arnie Vogel, grandson Dale Vogel, great grandsons Jordan Vogel, Quinten Buelow, great granddaughters Natalie Gang, Erin Buelow, Brother and sister in law; Alfred (Dorothy) Plier. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday June 22, 2015 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Jefferson with the Rev. Thomas Coyle officiating, private family burial will be on Tuesday. Visitation for Anna will be at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on Monday from 3:30-6:15 with Mass at 6:30 p.m. Those wishing to express sympathy through donations may direct them to Rainbow Hospice, or to St. John the Baptist Catholic School.
