Obituary of Jay Boyd Logan

JAY B. LOGAN age 82 of Johnson Creek passed away March 10, 2015 at his home in Johnson Creek. He was born on July 1, 1932 in Washington, Iowa to Al and De Ina (Buhrman) Logan. Jay served in the United States Air Force from February 1952-1956, in the Air Police. He married Mavis Williamson on October 6, 1956. He worked as a Journeyman Electrician for many years for various companies retiring in 2006. Jay enjoyed his work in construction and was always interested in what was being constructed in the area. He was a member of the Crossroads Community Church in Johnson Creek, and a former member of Trinity Lutheran in Fort Atkinson. Jay loved being hands on and was a very active member during the construction of the Crossroads Church. He was known as "Grandpa" to all the children at the Kids Connection Daycare. He will be deeply missed by his family Wife Mavis Logan of Johnson Creek. Daughters Cindy (Thomas) Abernethy of Fort Atkinson, Greta (Jim) Skalitzky of Greenwood, Wis., Janet (Ken) Gagnon of Neenah, Wis. Six grandchildren Amanda (Josh) Reiner, Candice Starkey, Ryan Zimmerman, Dustin (Stephanie) Zimmerman, Nicholas Abernethy, Alex Abernethy. Three great grandchildren Brigit Grometer, Delaney Reiner, Kennedy Reiner Sister Margery Shew of Bettendorf, Iowa, Brother Jackson (Sharon) Logan of Janesville. Sister-in-law Ada Logan of Min. He is preceded in death by his parents, granddaughters Marcia Zimmerman and Lindsey Logan, Sisters: Theo Logan, Kathryn (Paul) Clark, Maxine (Carlin) Jones, Brothers: John (Rhea) Logan, James Logan, Brother-in-law: Clarence Shew, Son-in-law: Michael Grometer. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday March 14, 2015 at the Crossroads Community Church in Johnson Creek, with the Pastor James Playter officiating. Burial will be 2:00 p.m. on Monday at the Rock Island National Veterans Cemetery in Moline, Ill. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday evening at the Schneider-Michaelis Funeral Home in Jefferson and then again on Saturday afternoon at the church from 1:30 until the time of services.
