Obituary of Leona Mary Wedl

LEONA M. WEDL, age 102 of Jefferson passed away Sunday August 24, 2014 at Alden Estates in Jefferson. She was born January 31, 1912 in Clyman, Wisconsin daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Weisensel) Brigowatz. She married Wilfred Wedl on February 1, 1936 at St. John's Catholic Church in Clyman, he preceded her in death on February 23, 1958. Leona had worked at the Meadow Springs Country Club, Country Side Nursing Home and was a cook for the Fort Atkinson School District for many years. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Parishes, and the St. Ann's Society. Leona enjoyed spending time with her family and was an avid card player. She will be deeply missed by her family; Son; Dick (Judy) Wedl of Jefferson Daughters; Beverly Ann Probst of Jefferson, Mary Jo Bauer of Jefferson, Annie Wedl of Jefferson, Theresa (James) Sommerfeldt of Lac du Flambeau, Kitty (Dean) Sukow of Helenville. 19 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and 3 great great-grandchildren. Brother-in -law Chummy Wedl of Johnson Creek, and Sister-in-law; Jane Wedl of Jefferson. She is further preceded in death by her daughter Susan Wedl, Son-in-law Jerry Probst, 5 sisters; Evelyn Kreuziger, Mary Moore, Lucille Mader, Florence Schraven, Loretta Fitzgerald, 2 brothers; Leroy and Frances Brigowatz. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11;00 a.m. on Thursday August 28, 2014 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Jefferson with the Rev. Thomas Coyle officiating, Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass.
