Obituary of Elsie Whilhelmina Shay

ELSIE W. SHAY age 93 of Jefferson formerly of Strum Wisconsin, passed away on Sunday May 25, 2014 at Eagle View Manor in Jefferson. She was born on September 11, 1920 in Foster, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Fredrick & Laura (Pehlke) Zeihlsdorff. She married Howard Shay on February 28, 1943 he preceded her in death May 24, 1989. Elsie was a homemaker and she and Howard were Foster Parents for many years for over 53 children. Before Elsie was married she worked at Gillette for the War. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Fort Atkinson, and St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Osseo. She will be deeply missed by her family; Daughter Carolyn (Conrad) Holcomb of Watertown. Grandchildren; Darrin (Vickie) Holcomb of Watertown, Brian Holcomb of Watertown, Becky (George) Jaeckel of Fort Atkinson. Great Grandchildren; Zach (Katie) Holcomb, Adam (Megan) Holcomb, Carson Holcomb, Kyle and Emily Jaeckel, Great-Great Grandson; Braedon Holcomb. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is further preceded in death by her Foster Son David Zaspel, granddaughter-in-law; Dawn Holcomb. Brothers Alfred, Clarence, Arvin Zeihlsdorff. Memorial services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday May 30, 2014 at Schneider-Michaelis Funeral Home in Jefferson, with the Rev. Bill Beyer officiating. Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday May 31, 2014 at the St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery in Osseo, with the Rev. Dennis Voss officiating.
