Obituary of Alta Schroeder

ALTA SCHROEDER age 98 of Jefferson passed away on Monday October 7, 2013 at Alden Estates of Jefferson. She was born on December 1, 1914 in Lancaster Wisconsin, daughter of the late Michael and Maude (Blough) Burns. She married Henry G. Schroeder (Circuit Court Judge in Jefferson) on November 22, 1940; he preceded her in death on January 13, 1978. Alta graduated from High School and College in Dubuque Iowa. Over her long career she was employed as an executive secretary to the President of Milton College, a job she loved, as well as secretary for several local firms including Nasco and for James Burge in Milwaukee. Alta was a member of the Congregational Church in Fort Atkinson. She is survived by her sister Elizabeth Purdy of Sun City Center, Florida and niece Katharine Nathan of Chicago, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her husband and son Jerry Schroeder. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday October 10, 2013 at St. Jerome's Cemetery in Oconomowoc.
