Obituary of Gerald Joseph Seisser

GERALD J. "JERRY" SEISSER, 74, of Jefferson, went home to the Lord on Saturday March 30, after a seven month battle with cancer, his family by his side at Rainbow Hospice Inpatient Center, Johnson Creek. Jerry was born in Sycamore, IL on November 27, 1938, the oldest son of Virgil Jr. and Margaret (Zimmer) Seisser. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1956. Jerry married Kathleen Hack on July 9, 1960, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Whitewater. He worked for the Jefferson County Highway Department for 38 years, until his retirement in 1998. He also mowed St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery for 31 years. Jerry also worked part-time at Piggly Wiggly in Jefferson following his retirement. A member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Jefferson, Jerry served as an usher for over 50 years. Jerry loved his Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee/Atlanta Braves and going to many Jefferson Eagles sporting events. He also enjoyed cheering for his favorite college teams, Duke Men's basketball and Notre Dame Football. Jerry enjoyed his daily walks through Jefferson, driving his truck around town, gardening and visiting with his morning coffee clutch crew at McDonalds He will be dearly missed by his wife of 52 years, Kathy of Jefferson four children; Rita (Dan) Schiferl of Fort Atkinson, Nancy (Jamie)Letcher of Madison, Joan (Greg) Stoppleworth of Cross Plains, and Jeffrey( fiancé Sheri Truog) Seisser of Jefferson; eight grandchildren; Ryan and Eric Schiferl, Emma and Aaron Letcher, Madeleine, Abigail and Riley Stoppleworth and Tyler Seisser; his brother, Virgil III (Mary) Seisser of Jefferson, sister-in-;law Pat Seisser of Fort Atkinson, and his mother Margaret Seisser of Jefferson. He is also survived by many loving relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father; Virgil Jr., brother; Robert; grandson; Walter Virgil Seisser. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday April 6, 2013 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Jefferson with the Rev. Thomas Coyle officiating. Private family burial will be held at a later date. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 on Friday April 5, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and then again on Saturday morning at the Church from 11:00a.m. Until the time of Mass.
