Obituary of Vivian Bernice STEINKE

VIVIAN B. STEINKE age 80 of Jefferson passed away Friday August 31, 2012 at her home. She was born on May 18, 1932 in Melrose, Wisconsin daughter of the late Ira and Bernice (Swanger) Bentley. She married Erwin Steinke, on June 1, 1951 in Merrillan, Wisconsin; he preceded her in death on May 27, 2002. She was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church in Jefferson. After moving to Jefferson in 1972 Vivian helped out at West Elementary as a teacher's aide. She volunteered at St. Vincent De Paul and also with Christmas Neighbors. Vivian enjoyed spending time with family and friends, reading and making floral arrangements. Vivian owned and operated Jefferson Floral & Bridal before retiring and working part time at Southgate Floral. When she was able Vivian loved to go watch her grandchildren participate in school programs and sporting events. Vivian will be deeply missed by her family, Children; David Steinke of Madison, Michael Steinke of Jefferson, Karla (Dave) Carnes of Jefferson, Darcey (Steve) Hein of Jefferson, Rhonda (Art) Kracht of Manitowoc. Grandchildren; Doug (Kris) Steinke, Craig (Rachel) Steinke, Colin Steinke, Andy (Roxanne) Haas, Erin Haas (Steve Behnke) , Eric (Heather) Haas, Emily Hein, Stephanie Hein and Jacob Acker. Step-granddaughter, Carrie (Ryan) Philippon. Great Grandchildren; Jessica, Abigail, Matthew Steinke and Camren and Brady Haas, and step-great grandchildren; Kylie and Mason Philippon. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson Matthew (Acker) Steinke, son-in-law Lloyd Acker, and five brothers, and two sisters. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday September 8th at Immanuel United Methodist Church in Jefferson with the Rev. Nancy Carmichael-Stoner officiating burial will follow in the Rock River Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday September 7th at the Schneider-Michaelis Funeral home in Jefferson and then again at the church on Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Memorials in Vivian's name may be directed to Immanuel United Methodist Church, or to Jefferson Rainbow Hospice.
