Obituary of Harley Frederick Hoene
HARLEY F. HOENE, age 87 of Fort Atkinson, passed away on Saturday February 25, 2012 at the Rainbow Hospice Inpatient Center in Johnson Creek.
He was born on December 16, 1924 in the Town of Concord, son of the late Frederick and Martha (Vogel) Hoene. He married Joyce Wagner in 1965; she preceded him in death in 1991.
Harley farmed in the Town of Concord until 1965, and then he and his wife Joyce owned and operated Harley & Joyce's Tap in Milwaukee for 25 years before settling back in the Fort Atkinson area.
He was a member of Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fort Atkinson.
Harley was an avid hunter and enjoyed his vegetable garden. He loved spending time at their cottage in Lake Sherwood.
He will be deeply missed by his sons; Darrel Hoene of Fort Atkinson, and Steven Hoene of Cedarburg. Grandchildren; Cristine (Jamie) Schnitger, Traci Hoene, and great-grandchildren; Kassidy and Britany Schnitger.
Sister; Veronica "Roni" Zautner of Sullivan, and Brother; Lloyd Hoene of Florida.
His longtime devoted friend and companion Dolores Bankert.
He is preceded in death by his brothers; Elmer, Wallace, Mearl Hoene, and sisters; May Zimdars, Stella Vaughn, Betty Peterson, Hildegard Hoene.
Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday March 1, 2012 at the Schneider-Michaelis Funeral home with the Rev. Ethan Steinbrenner officiating, entombment at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield will take place on Friday at 10:00 a.m. Visitation for Harley will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Thursday evening at the funeral home.
