Obituary of Gay Dianne Soholt

GAY D. SOHOLT, 75, of Johnson Creek, passed away on Monday, December 19, 2011, at Sunset Ridge Assisted Living Center in Johnson Creek. Gay was born on November 9, 1936, in Marshfield, WI, the daughter of Frank and Margaret (Strouts) Erdman. On November 11, 1961, she married Dalen "Dean" Soholt at Faith Lutheran Church in Spooner, WI. Gay resided with her family in Johnson Creek for 34 years. She spent many years as a "Stay at home Mom", as well as a Cub Scout leader and a Brownie Scout leader. She played the piano and organ at St. John's Lutheran Church in Johnson Creek for 25 years, as well as teaching piano, accompanying local students for solo ensemble contests, and playing for weddings and funerals. As the years went on and her five children were all in school, Gay attended and graduated from University Wisconsin Whitewater with a teaching degree. She substitute taught throughout the Jefferson County area. When Gay and Dean retired, they eventually returned to Spooner, WI in 2001. Dean and Gay recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Gay is survived by her husband, Dean, of Johnson Creek. She is further survived by her five children, Kurt (Zenaida) of Stafford, VA, Craig (Julie) of Johnson Creek, Brian of Linden, NC, Kristy (Jeff) Wichman of Johnson Creek and Joshua (Trisha) of Jefferson, 11 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, One brother, Timothy (Louise) Erdman of San Rafael, CA, one sister, Jill (Dan) Shea of Cannon Falls, MN, and many other family and friends. Gay was preceded in death by her mother and father. Gay will be dearly missed by all. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff at Sunset Ridge and Rainbow Hospice for their loving care. There will be a visitation on Friday, December 23rd, beginning at 9:00 with a memorial service to follow at 10:00. The services will take place at Sunset Ridge Assisted Living Facility located in Johnson Creek. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at 11:00 AM (visitation 10-11 AM) at Trinity Lutheran Church, Spooner. Interment will follow at the Northern Wisconsin Veteran Memorial Cemetery.
