Obituary of Isabell Delores Mead

ISABELL D. MEAD, 70, of Johnson Creek, passed away Friday, December 9, 2011, at Watertown Memorial Hospital with her family by her side, following an apparent heart attack on December 8, 2011. A mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Johnson Creek with the Rev. Robert Hughes officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Family & friends may call at the Schneider-Michaelis Funeral Home in Jefferson on Tuesday evening 4:00-7:00 p.m. and at the church from 10:00-11:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home Tuesday evening. Isabell was born June 19, 1941, in Sidnaw, Michigan, the eldest child of Eugene and Clara (Splude) Mead. With the passing of her mother on Sept. 12, 1949 Isabell's family moved to the Johnson Creek area where Isabell had lived for the past 66 years. In 1955 Isabell became a member of the Adam and Margaret (Pirkel) Neis family. Isabell graduated from UW Whitewater with a Bachelor's Degree in Teaching and completed her Masters Degree in Education thereafter. Her commitment, dedication, and love of teaching were evident for she taught history for 35 years starting in 1963 at the Johnson Creek School District. Her joy of teaching extended to Extra Curricular activities at school including organizing and supervising school dances and other functions. She strived to always be there to mentor and support her peers. Isabell loved to serve the Lord by giving her time and talents to many organizations. She had been a faithful member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church where she was a religious education teacher and served on numerous boards and committees. Isabell was a long-standing member of the National Education Association and the Jefferson County Retired Teachers Association. She was an active volunteer for Tomorrows Hope. She had served on the Johnson Creek Village Board. Her passion for History continued with her serving as a member of the Johnson Creek Historical Society. Her humility and generosity has touched the lives of many and will continue to do so. Isabell was an excellent cook and loved to share her creations with her family and friends especially around the holidays, which will be greatly missed. Traveling to many destinations with her father, sister, and friends was a great source of joy for Isabell. As relatives, friends, and acquaintances knew, Isabel had been a faithful and loyal Democrat since JFK. Surviving are her sister, Barbara Zubke (Roger Green) of Watertown, sister in law Marlene Mead of Weston, nieces and nephews Larry Zubke of Schwenningen Germay, Wendy (Rick) Wilkey of Watertown, Donald (Ginger) Zubke of Watertown, Becky (Paul) Minning of Watertown, Brian (Heather) Zubke of Johnson Creek, Tammy (Eric) Markgraf of Watertown, Teresa (Darrell) Cornwell of Rothschield, Ken (Jeanette) Mead Tuscon Az. Kim (Jeff) Mead San Manuel Az., Lance (Canton) Mead Pascaline Ga. Great nieces and Great nephews, whom she was extremely fond of Max, Ricky, Josh, Abby, Zach, Macy, Eli, Hunter, Olivia, Beau, Emily, Katy, Kyle, Melissa, Ken Jr., Nick, Samantha, Ashley, Lily, and Christian. The Neis and Pirkel families. Many other relatives and wonderful friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother Kenneth; brother in law LeRoy Zubke: Adam and Margaret Neis.
