Obituary of Jane Lehmann

Jane H. Lehmann, age 97, of Jefferson passed away peacefully at Sunset Ridge Assisted Living on January 6, 2024. 

She was born on the family farm on June 3, 1926 daughter of the late Frank and Rose (Weissman) Schakelmann.  Jane married Robert Lehmann on September 11, 1946; he preceded her in death on April 3, 2015.

Jane was a life-long resident of Jefferson.  She volunteered at St. Coletta School and worked as a library aide at Jefferson High School for many years until her retirement.  Jane enjoyed apricot danishes from the BonTon Bakery, doing needlework and watching the birds.  She and Bob traveled world-wide and spent many warm winters at their condo on Marco Island, FL. 

Jane is survived by her children Mary (John) Shurtleff of The Villages, FL Cindy (Gary) Ramthun of The Villages, FL; Steve (Valerie) Lehmann of Bryson City, NC; Lisa Rubach of Kronenwetter, WI; and AFS daughter Vallaya Kuanchai-Pura of Bangkok, Thailand.  6 Grandchildren, Andrew (Julie) Shurtleff, Jeffrey (Peggy) Shurtleff, Genna Erlien, Kelsey Staudacher, Whitney Staudacher, and Natassia Pura.  5 Great-grandchildren, Ryan Shurtleff, Matthew Shurtleff, Bennett Erlien, Maeva Erlien, Tanner Erlien .    

Jane’s children wish to thank the staff at Sunset Ridge for their care of Mom for the past 5 years.  Those wishing to express sympathy through donations may direct them to Agrace Hospice who supported Jane and her family with care and dignity.  Agrace Hospice, 5395 E. A private burial will be held later this year.
