Obituary of Vincent Joseph Hoehn

Vincent Joseph (Jay) Hoehn Jr., age 62, of Jefferson, WI, passed away on December 14th, 2023.

Born on March 18, 1961, in Chicago, IL, Jay was the son of Vincent Joseph Hoehn Sr. and Barbara (Maxwell), who later married Chester Zepka Jr. Together, they lovingly raised Jay and his sisters, Vicki and Dawn. The family relocated to Wisconsin in 1976.

Jay attended Jefferson High School, where he met his high school sweetheart, Sue (Toth). Jay worked at Watertown Metals for eight years and later took on various roles, including being a devoted Mr. Mom for his children and caring for the children of friends and family. He served as a janitor, crossing guard, and volunteered as a Special Olympics Basketball coach for St. Coletta’s. Among his cherished memories was working with his best friend, Mike Zepka, making elephant ears or other delicious treats for Zepka Concessions. He also enjoyed working for Mr. Steve Lewis at Winter Woods in Jefferson, where they crafted Christmas wreaths.

An enthusiastic sports fan, Jay remained a loyal Chicago supporter, cheering on the Bears, Cubs, and the Blackhawks. He found joy in riding bike and was an active participant in a men's basketball league.

Jay and Sue celebrated 41 years of marriage, and they were blessed with three children. Jay deeply adored his three grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Sue; sons, Eric and Adam Hoehn; daughter, Amber (Jacob) Wetherell; and grandchildren, Emily, William, and Charlotte Wetherell. Also surviving are his father, Chester Zepka Jr.; sisters, Vicki (Larry) Meyer and Dawn French; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Preceding Jay in death were his mother, Barbara Hoehn; father, Vincent Joseph Hoehn Sr.; Busia, Antoinette Zepka; grandmother, Cecilia Maxwell; and sister, Barbara Hodges. Also preceding him were uncles Kip and Jimmy Maxwell and Aunt Deb Maxwell.

The family expresses gratitude to the staff at UnityPoint Health-Meriter Hospital, Madison, Lake Mills Health Services, and Rainbow Hospice, Johnson Creek, for their care and compassion.
