Patricia Dobbs

Obituary of Patricia A. "Pat" Dobbs

PATRICIA A. (Pat) DOBBS, age 86 of Jefferson passed away peacefully at her home on November 12, 2023.

Patricia was born on July 18,1937 in Monroe, WI to Joseph & Helen (Lunda) O’Rourke.  She attended Argyle High School and married Daniel Franklin in Argyle, WI.  She later married Elmer L. Dobbs.

Prior to her retirement in 1994, Pat joined various organizations and companies throughout her work life. She was an avid sports fan her entire life.  From car racing to any sport with a ball, Pat loved them all and often shared memories of her time as a cheerleader in high school.  She loved music ~ especially when it involved another love~ dancing.  She passed that love onto her children & grandchildren and could be found dancing with one of them or their friends in the kitchen as “the boys” were preparing for a special event.

Pat enjoyed being outdoors as much as possible~ with gardening & canning being a lifelong pleasure.  Pat & Elmer retired to Bella Villa, Arkansas spending 10 years there until Elmer’s death.  During her time in Arkansas Pat enjoyed spending time with family and friends, attending church functions & bird watching~ especially hummingbirds.

What Pat loved more than anything, though ~ was being called Mom, Grandma and Gigi.

In her early adulthood, Pat had been a single parent to two.  Post retirement, she spent the last 20 years facing several health challenges that required many doctor visits, surgeries and hospital stays. She displayed tremendous grace and maintained her sense of humor through it all.

Having struggled herself, she held a special place in her heart for children and families working through life’s challenges. Pat used her limited resources to support several organizations~ especially those that work to lift others up during tough times~ including St. Jude’s, Milwaukee Rescue Mission, Manna Monday and Christmas Neighbors.

Pat was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Jefferson.  Our family would like to thank Teresa Brawders for each and every home visit and the blessing of fellowship, prayer, communion and friendship.

Patricia is survived by those she loved dearly; her children Daniel Franklin of Jefferson, Debra Franklin of Jefferson and Dawn Dobbs of Fond du Lac, WI; grandchildren Benji (Lyndsey),Crystal (Paul), Jazemond (Lacy), Danielle(Yuri); great-grandchildren Tiana, Rylan, Kalisi, Ethan, Mason, Avery, Eva, Zaza; brother Charles (Linda), several nieces and nephews and special friends Bertha, Sandy and Tim.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Elmer and grandson, Nathanial, sister Donna and Brother Ritchie.

Our family would like to thank Rainbow Hospice for their compassionate and loving care of our Mom during the two most vulnerable months of her life.  Special recognition to Trisha (RN), Trisha (CNA), Lauren, Sam, Debra, Chaplain Steve, Kathy and the entire hospice team for helping us during this beautiful journey.

Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.  Matthew 5:4
