Sheila Cox

Obituary of Sheila Raye Cox

Sheila Cox, 82 originally from the Johnson Creek area, passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2023, surrounded by family.

Sheila, the daughter of Harvey and Doris (Morin) Cox, was born on September 2, 1941, in Wahpeton, ND as the third of 11 children.  The large family moved around quite a bit in the early years - North Dakota to California - before finally settling in Oak Creek, WI. Her father was a steamfitter by trade who held a special love of nature and animals.  He passed this love on to his children, which initiated Sheila’s lifelong passion for horses and dogs.  Married in South Milwaukee in 1961, her love of animals eventually inspired the young couple to purchase a small farm in Jefferson County in 1969, accumulating dogs, cats, horses, cows, goats, chickens, ducks and even a peacock.  Soon they outgrew the small farm and purchased a larger farm where Sheila started her own dairy herd with the help of their four children. Never one to let a single minute slip by with idle hands, she also mastered the craft of stained glass during this time, creating many beautiful works of art for her family and friends.  Sheila had a tough determination and ever-present sense of love and concern for her family and friends. Just like her own mother, Sheila was the glue that held her family together through good times and bad and will be dearly missed.

She is survived by: her children Terre (Wally) Huebner of Helenville,  Peter Rogars of Fort Atkinson, Michael (Theresa) Rogars of Watertown, and Paul Rogars of Fort Atkinson; 5 grandchildren Amanda Huebner, Matthew (Ashley) Huebner, Mark (Karla) Brown, Lucas Rogars and Chad (Brittany) Rogars; 4 great-grandchildren Annabelle Rogars, Chadwick Rogars, Kolbie Brown and Kasey Brown; and her siblings Lee (Sandy) Cox, Bonnie (Paul) Gohr, Judy (Larry) Cracraft, Paul Cox, Jim Cox, Tim (Sue) Cox, and Joe (Camille) Cox.  Sheila is also survived by many special nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Sheila is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Michael Cox, Gregg Cox, sister Lynn Cox and sisters-in-law Mary Cox, Loretta Cox and Sue Cox.

The family would like to express a sincere thank you to the staff of North Ridge Assisted Living in Stevens Point who helped take care of Sheila during her very difficult final years.
