Obituary of Dean Glenn Schmidt

DEAN GLENN SCHMIDT, age 78 of Jefferson passed away peacefully at his home  on September 3, 2023 after a short battle with cancer.

Dean was born on April 28, 1945 in Milwaukee, WI to Glenn W. and Elsie (Boomer) Schmidt.  He grew up and attended school in the Milwaukee area and graduated from UW-Milwaukee. Dean served in the US Air Force from 1966-1969.   He married Suzanne M. Klubertanz on June 10, 1972 in Menomonie Falls, WI.

Dean worked for Atlas-Copco in Stockholm, Sweden and retired as a regional sales manager. He enjoyed playing golf with friends, going to casinos and building items for his family such as shoe cubbies, window boxes and even chicken coops. He was always available to serve as the family handyman.

He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Jefferson, local VFW and Knights of Columbus. 

Dean is survived by his wife, Sue; children, Keri M. (Conrad) Johnson, Lea M. (Nathan) Holland, and Jessica (Dustin Farberg) Schmidt; grandchildren Forrest Schmidt, Skye Johnson, Zachary Holland, Tyler Holland, Cooper York and Wynter Farberg and sister Karen (Mark) Walter.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Rev. Gerald Schmidt, O.F.M. and sister Jean Schumacher.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at noon on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Jefferson.  Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 AM until time of service.  Burial will take place at a later date in the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove, WI.

Memorials in Dean’s name can be made to St. Francis of Assisi Parish.
