Obituary of Charlotte Catherine Ferguson

CHAROLTTE C. FERGUSON was born on August 8, 1922 to Peter and Christine (Champeau) Whalen in Columbus, Wisconsin. She was raised and graduated from High School in Ingalls, MI and upon graduation attended nurses training in Peoria, IL. She was married to Daniel Ferguson on March 25, 1944. They made their first home in Marinette, WI and started their family of 4 children. Charlotte and Dan relocated several times throughout the state of Wisconsin and Minnesota with the last 42 years in Jefferson. Charlotte worked as a bookkeeper and seamstress and had great talent for both. She took greatest pride in her role as wife and mother. She was a devout Catholic and long standing member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She volunteered there and in many other organizations over the years. She enjoyed a good story, cooking, travel, theater, music and loved to play bridge. The many friends she and Dan made over the years were an important part of their life together. Charlotte's greatest joy came from her family. She valued her marriage of 66 years, her children and their spouses. She was particularly proud of her 10 grandchildren, who adored her as much as she adored them. She taught them how to play cards, shake dice, sew, make taco dip, laugh and always encouraged them in their educational and job pursuits. She just plain had fun with them. In recent years she was blessed with 3 precious great grandchildren. Charlotte died on September 19, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, WI reaching the age of 88. She is survived by her husband; Daniel Ferguson of Jefferson. 2 Sons; Daniel (Carleen) Ferguson Jr. of Hot Springs Village, AR, Gerald (Gail) Ferguson of Moorhead, MN, 2 Daughters; Judith Humann of Battle Lake, MN, Susan (Robert) Thomsen of Jefferson. 10 grandchildren; Tana (Rob) Brennan, Samuel Humann, Joel (Sara) Ferguson, Joseph (Sara) Humann, Jay (Stephanie) Thomsen, Benjamin Ferguson, Kelly Thomsen, Andrew Humann, William Ferguson, Peter Ferguson. 3 great grandchildren; Ryan, Rowan Brennan, Maxwell Humann. She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Christine Whalen, siblings, Madeline, Jonas, Francis, and Theodore, and her son-in-law Larry Humann. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 12:00 noon, on Wednesday September 22, 2010 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with the Rev. Thomas Coyle officiating, and Rev.
