Obituary of Sally Monica Gross
SALLY M. GROSS, age 83, of Jefferson passed away Wednesday February 7, 2018 at Sylvan
Crossings Assisted Living in Jefferson after a struggle with lung cancer. She was born on December 5, 1934 in Fort Atkinson, WI to Frederick and Ethel (Thompson) Ohl. She married LaVerne P. Renz on May 23, 1953, at St Francis Xavier Rectory, Lake Mills, Wisconsin. He preceded her in death on February 27, 1973.
She then became reacquainted with Eugene H. Gross at a high school class reunion. After dating for several years they were married on June 19, 1982 at Hill 'n Dale farm outside of Jefferson. He preceded her in death on December 15, 1983.
Sally was a proud 1952 graduate of Fort Atkinson High School. She was a creative homemaker a good share of her life; and had also worked as a secretary at W. D Hoard and Sons Co. and as an office assistant for Fidelity Land Title Company. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Jefferson.
Sally was a compassionate, fun-loving person, with a strong spirit. She had a soft spot in her heart for animals, especially dogs and horses, and will be deeply missed by her little terrier Hazel. She loved farms, flowers, hot fudge sundaes and watching old westerns, even so far as taking on the moniker "Dirty Sal" for a time.
She is survived by her family, daughters Pamela (Randy) Frohmader of Jefferson, Jody (Eric) Shuppe of
Johnson Creek, Rochelle (Thomas) Anfang of Sullivan, Robin (Rick) Warren of Sullivan, and sons Jeffrey (Teresa) Renz of Jefferson, and Randall (Jo) Renz of Hebron; 10 grandchildren, Justin Frohmader, Jeremy (Christine) Renz, Lucas (Ashley) Renz, Lauren Renz, Christopher (Glenna) Shuppe, Jacob (Christi) Shuppe, Brad Renz, Benjamin Renz, Melissa Anfang and Madeline (Christopher) Goettl, 10 great grandchildren, and a sister Judy (Wayne) Bosteder of Fort Atkinson .
She is also preceded in death by her son Gregory Renz, granddaughter Megan Frohmader, and brother Robert Ohl.
