Obituary of Carrissa Ann Wright
CARRISSA (“SPIKE”) A. WRIGHT, age 27, passed away unexpectedly after a long-time battle with depression, on January 30, 2022, at her home in Hancock, WI. She was born on September 9, 1994, in Stevens Point to Joseph and Marcie (Punzel) Wright. Carrissa graduated from Rosholt High School in 2013 where she made many great friends and played JV & Varsity sports including: volleyball (setter), basketball (point-guard), and fast-pitch softball (pitcher).
Following High School, Carrissa attended UW-Whitewater & North Central Technical College with dreams of becoming a Veterinarian Technician or Mental Health professional. While attending classes, she also worked at Wisconsin Lions Camp as a dietician/cook, as a summer nanny for her cousin Alexa, at All-Cow Dairy Farm as a farmhand, at County Paws Bed & Biscuit as a groomer & day-care attendant and at Fleet Farm Stevens Point, and the Kwik Trip in Stevens Point.
Carrissa was a lover of all things indoors & outdoors. She enjoyed skeet & trap shooting, hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling and family getaways to the ranch in Wyoming & family cabin. She continued her love of volleyball as an adult, playing in indoor & outdoor weekend tournaments throughout the State with her volleyball family. She was also a very talented artist, creating wonderful paintings, jewelry & t-shirts which she turned into her own business venture.
Throughout her life, Carrissa was very passionate about animals. She rescued stray dogs that were in-need of a home, loved her cat and was a great “puppy mom” to her dogs.
Most recently Carrissa was employed as a postal carrier with the United States Postal Service for 5 years delivering mail throughout the surrounding areas of Waupaca & Coloma, Wisconsin, where she met even more great friends and coworkers.
Carrissa leaves behind her loving family. Parents Joseph and Marcie Wright of Custer, her brother Anthony “AJ” Wright (Johanne) of Jefferson, her loving significant other Gregorick Johnson of Hancock. Grandmother Joyce Punzel of Jefferson, Grandfather Elmer (Karen) Wright of Indiana. Many Aunts and Uncles, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her Grandfather Lyle Punzel, Grandmother Carmen Bubolz and Aunt Julie Wright-Rosato.
