Obituary of Barbara M Albers
Barbara M. Albers, age 99, of rural Johnson Creek, passed away peacefully at her home on January 23rd, 2019. She is the daughter of Charles and Edith (Seivert) Riley and was born in the town of Lindina near Mauston, WI. Barbara married Earl H. Albers on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 1948 in St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Milwaukee, Wl. Her husband preceded her in death, Earl passed away on February 16, 2000.
Barbara worked as a telephone operator in Mauston, Edgerton and Milwaukee before her marriage. In addition to raising six children and working on their farm, she was active in her church, St. Mary Magdalene Church in Johnson Creek where she served as sacristan and member of the Daughter’s of Mary Society. Barbara and Earl were among the founding members of the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Lake Mills in the 1960’s. Barbara was the first woman member of the local chapter and served as their secretary, volunteered as a home visitor and worked in the store until she could no longer drive her car.
She will be deeply missed by her family: Mary (Richard) Plenkers of Watertown, WI, Michael (Jana) Albers of Grand Rapids, MN, Joan (Lyle) Kuckkan of Harshaw, WI, Timothy (Cookie) Albers of Tomahawk, WI and Kathy Ferguson of Champaign, IL. She is also survived by two sisters, Reggie and Laurie, and by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchild, and, by many nieces and nephews. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, husband and daughter Geralyn, siblings Rita Beyer, Marie Brinsko and Ambrose Riley, and, grandson Gregory Kuckkan and great-grandson Mason Novotny.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 on Friday, February 1, 2019 at St. Mary Magdalene Church in Johnson Creek with Rev. David Wanish officiating. Visitation will take place in the church on Friday morning from 9:30 to 11:30. Burial will follow the Mass in the Parish cemetery.
