Obituary of James Raymond Salmon
JAMES “JIM” SALMON age 69 of Jefferson passed away peacefully in his deer stand on Thursday, December 6, 2018. He was born on December 18, 1948 in Richland Center WI, son of the late Leathel (Henthorn) and Carl Salmon. Jim graduated from the University of Wisconsin Whitewater in 1971 with a degree in education. He married Mary Vogel on April 4, 1981 at St. Coletta Chapel in Jefferson. Jim worked for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department for 35 years before retiring in 2009. His family meant the world to him, he enjoyed hunting and fishing with friends, spending time at the family cabin, and was eagerly awaiting the birth of his first grandchild due in March. Everyone who knew Jim can attest to his lively spirit and heart of gold! He will be deeply missed by his family; Wife Mary Salmon of Jefferson, Daughters Megan (JR) Westberg of Minneapolis, MN, Melissa (James) Etie of Minneapolis, MN, Sisters; Linda (Dennis) Solner of Montello, WI, Rose Scalzitti of New Lisbon, June Williams of Delavan, WI, Mary (Jeff) Rowland of Delavan, WI, Brothers; Merv (Marty) Salmon of New Lisbon, Hunter Salmon of Burlington, WI, and Sister-in-law; Pearl Salmon of Pardeeville, WI. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Leroy Salmon and Robert Salmon.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday December 11, 2018 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Jefferson with the Rev. Thomas Coyle officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Memorials in Jim’s name may be given to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to the Humane Society of Jefferson County.
