I am a grandchild of Eunice and I loved her dearly. Today I was wearing a tan-white, crisscrossed, wool sweater. At school, many people told me it was very cute. I realized that it was purchased with grandma. It was actually one of my fondest memories with her, ever. We were given clothes as presents one holiday, but they did not fit my sister nor me. Knowing we had to return the items, grandma, my sister, and I drove to the Walmart grandma had purchased the items from. We sat in the return line and got the money back. Instead of going home grandma told us we should pick out new clothing that we liked. My sister ran off into the aisles, but I stayed with grandma. We began to browse the racks and pointed out things we liked and decided whether to put them in the cart or not. I remember her telling me how wonderful it was to be out and about doing something with us, which didn't happen often. I remember telling her why I liked each item I chose and how I would pair it with the other clothing I already had. When the total of our clothing rung out at the register I remember feeling a little guilty because it was more than she originally spent, but grandma gave us that special grandma wink and slid her card. That day was so special because it was just us together talking and actively conversing. It was incredible to be able to share our thoughts mutually rather than telling each other information as we normally would during gatherings, updating each other on what had happened since we had last seen each other. I wish I had been able to do that more with her. Today was remarkable and one of the brightest pieces of her will remain with me, in this sweater. It always feels warmer than any of my other sweaters. ;)

Sorry for your loss. I remember Eunice from St . Joe’s in the 50s. I would walk with her on my way to meet my dad at NASCO on the river. She was always kind and I enjoyed our visits. RIP Eunice. Pat Barry Wolfgram
